Certified Labs

Appalachian Environmental is a full-service environmental company that provides drinking water and wastewater testing, treatment and monitoring services. We are committed to providing the best possible service for our customers, which is why we have a certified drinking water laboratory and an accredited wastewater laboratory that are continually updated through the NSI Laboratory Proficiency Testing Program.

Our Drinking Water Division is accredited to perform Total Coliform analysis. Our Wastewater Division sub-contracts other drinking water analyses to an accredited laboratory in the corresponding test. Our Licensed Operators and Technicians are equipped and trained to perform various field tests on-location of water treatment systems. These tests include, but are not limited to

pH
Dissolved Oxygen
Chlorine

On-Site Testing

Appalachian Environmental provides a wide range of water treatment services, including on-site treatment. Our technicians are experts in emulsified water and solids removal. With decades of experience, we can provide you with a customized solution based on your needs.

We’ll help you determine which process is best for your situation, and then design an effective solution for removing those contaminants from your wastewater stream.

If you need a system to treat water at your facility, we offer full-service design and installation for both new buildings as well as existing systems. If you’re looking to upgrade or replace one of these systems, our experienced team can assist you throughout the process from start to finish.

Pilot Plant Studies

The water treatment pilot plants are used for testing out critical business requisites such as regulations, compliance, design optimization, experiment safety, technological requirements, as well as training of professionals for water treatment.

The water treatment pilot plants are comprised of systems that are used for the validation of engineering, research, as well as technology used within a manufacturing unit or company. It also allows them to compare alternative or conventional water treatment methodologies for existing plant’s expansion or construction of new plants.

The benefits of pilot plants are:

Accurate estimates for engineering study & yearly/monthly budget
Accurate selection of membranes
Testing of alternate technologies
It also helps provide data for improvement of the ongoing operating systems
Establishment of tests for the compliance with regulatory standards
They also help prove all the concepts while reproducing lab results over the pilot scale for verification of
Jar Testing

Jar Testing and Chemical Optimization

Jar testing is a pilot-scale test of the treatment chemicals used in a particular water plant. It simulates the coagulation/flocculation process in a water treatment plant and helps operators determine if they are using the right amount of treatment chemicals, and, thus, improves the plant’s performance.

The test involves placing a small sample of raw water into a jar with a known volume of chemicals. The jar is then shaken for several minutes to help simulate the coagulation/flocculation process in a water treatment plant. The treated sample is then filtered through filter paper, which allows you to see how much of each particle size class has been removed from your water.

Field Services

Navigating the complexities of water treatment requires not only laboratory precision but also hands-on, in-the-field expertise. Our field services are tailored to provide real-world insights and solutions:

  • Water Analysis: On-site testing to determine water quality, identify contaminants, and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Pilot Plant Studies: Real-world, small-scale testing of treatment processes to predict full-scale performance and feasibility.
  • Corrosion Coupon Analysis: Evaluates the rate of corrosion within systems, helping to predict potential issues and optimize maintenance schedules.
  • Jar Testing and Chemical Optimization: Conducts tests to determine the most effective chemical dosages and combinations for specific water treatment challenges.

With our field services, clients can expect practical solutions, informed by real-world conditions and challenges.
